You can request to drive your subscription car within countries that are part of the European Union. If you’d like to take your car abroad please register your trip at least 14 days before you travel and we’ll be in touch shortly afterwards. We’ll do our best to approve you for your trip, but there may be some instances where we can’t approve your request.
A few things to keep in mind:
EU insurance: You’ll need to pay for additional EU cover from NIG which costs £36 for two weeks and £54 for one month.
EU breakdown cover: You'll also need to purchase additional EU breakdown cover from the RAC for £90. This renews every September, so you’ll be covered from the date you purchase it until the 31st August.
Vehicle green card: This document is provided by the insurer to prove that the car is correctly insured when abroad. You’ll need to keep this with you when driving in the EU.
VE103B Vehicle on Hire Certificate: This document proves that you have permission to take the car abroad. We’ll issue this for you and send it to your address before your trip. You need to keep this document with you at all times when traveling abroad with a hired vehicle. There’s a processing fee of £20 to cover the costs of the Hire Certificate and for preparing the documentation needed.
Please feel free to ask any questions about travel in your subscription car by calling us on 020 3901 3488. We’re available from 8am-8pm, 7 days a week.
